A special warrant is out for a 17-year-old Pleasantville male suspected of stealing a 2021 Porsche Macan S from the Wawa gas station on Route 72 in Manahawkin in the early-morning hours of July 13 while the owner was inside the store, according to Stafford Township police. A second, separate warrant has been issued for a juvenile suspected of receiving the stolen property. Neither has been arrested.

The Porsche was found 12 days later in Pleasantville; the suspects are wanted for third-degree theft of movable property and third-degree receiving stolen property.

“As we continue our ‘9 p.m. Routine’ initiative, we would like to remind our community to partner with us in preventing these thefts,” Stafford PD said in a statement, adding an urgent reminder to lock up valuables and take keys and fobs indoors, at all times of day and night. “Over the past several weeks, Stafford Township and the surrounding areas have been inundated with individuals taking advantage of unlocked vehicles and stealing them. Many of these thefts have occurred in public areas and in broad daylight.”

“Don’t give the opportunists the chance to take advantage of your mistake,” police caution. —V.F.
